PlaRecon’, accessible from https://www.plarecon.com, understands the importance of protecting your personal information and undertakes to adhere to the privacy policy described below at all times to ensure that your personal information is effectively safeguarded. We may refer to ‘PlaRecon’ as “we”, “our”, “us”, “blog”, “site”, “website”  in the agreement below.

1. What type of information will be collected and when?

1.1 Personal information you voluntarily provide us

We collect information from you when you register/sign-up on our site, subscribe to our newsletter (we use Sendinblue for our email newsletters and campaigns), fill out a form on the site with appropriate details, comment on the site, participate in PlaRecon promotional activities or surveys, or order products from PlaRecon.  When registering/signing up on our site, in most circumstances, this information may include, but not limited to- your name, e-mail address, profile picture, company (hospital or college name), field of interest, or website URL.  You may, however, visit and navigate through our site anonymously as long as you agree with our cookie policy (details in section 1.2), our terms, and our disclaimer. [Details of information shared while registering/logging in using Social logins is mentioned under Section 1.3].  When orders are made online for any PlaRecon product, additional details, as appropriate, including but not limited to- your address with Pin code, phone number(s)– are collected. When payment is made using credit/debit card or other online modes, information is securely transmitted in an encrypted format to PlaRecon from the third party payment portal.  If you upload images to the website, like in comments or guest posts, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

We undertake to take all due care with any information which you may provide to us when accessing our website. We do not use any information provided by you for commercial purposes. However we do not warrant and cannot ensure the security of any information which you may provide to us as it is limited by the efficiency of the best possible security solutions we use. Information you transmit to us is entirely at your own risk although we undertake to take reasonable steps to preserve such information in a secure manner.

1.2 Information we collect automatically when you use the website

When you use our website, we automatically collect information about you, including:

1.2.1 Log information

PlaRecon follows a standard procedure of using log files. These files log visitors when they visit websites. All hosting companies do this and a part of hosting services’ analytics. The information collected by log files include internet protocol (IP) addresses, browser type, Internet Service Provider (ISP), unique device identifiers, date and time stamp, geolocation, referring/exit pages, and possibly the number of clicks. These are not linked to any information that is personally identifiable. The purpose of the information is for analyzing trends, administering the site, tracking users’ movement on the website, and gathering demographic information.

1.2.3 Other Information

We may collect other appropriate information from your device, with your permission, like in the comments section. When you leave comments on the site, the user’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection. An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. See the Gravatar service privacy policy. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment. Similarly if you are using Social logins like Facebook and Google to comment, your social site profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

1.3 Information We Collect From Other Sources

We may collect information about you from other (third-party) services you elect to use, but only where these third-parties either have your consent or are otherwise legally permitted or required to disclose your information to us. Examples include:

  • Social Media Services: If you register or log into your account through an existing third-party social media service like Facebook, Google (Social Logins), we will have access to some of your third-party account information from that service, such as your name, email address, and/or profile picture. When you ‘social login’ for various activities like comment, your profile picture may be visible in the context of your comment with a link to your public profile page on the social media platform. If you do not have an existing social media account and are creating one, these third-party services have separate and independent privacy policies which we strongly advise you to review.  For more details, visit the official pages of Google privacy for Youtube, Facebook privacy, and that of other third-party service providers you may use on the website.

2. How will your personal information be used?

Plarecon may use your personal information (like email address) for any of the following purposes:

  • Sending latest blog post notifications and newsletters;
  • Communicating site related announcements and updates;
  • Marketing PlaRecon products;
  • Fulfilling orders for PlaRecon products (requiring sharing your information with third-party service providers for payment and shipping);
  • Updating regarding PlaRecon products;
  • Responding to enquiries in general and about PlaRecon products; and
  • Fulfilling all legal requirements of PlaRecon with respect to your personal information.

3. Who do we share your data with and when?

PlaRecon considers personal information we collect about you to be confidential and will not disclose such information to third parties except in the following circumstances:

  • where you have consented to your personal information being provided to a third-party;
  • where PlaRecon discloses personal information to the related entities including trusted third-parties who assist us in operating our website, conducting our business, or servicing you, so long as those parties agree to keep this information confidential (for example, to third-party service providers for payment and shipping of products);
  • where PlaRecon is required to disclose your information by law or in response to valid requests by public authorities (e.g. a court or a government agency); to enforce our site policies; or to protect ours or others’ rights, property, or safety.

Except in circumstances where access to your personal information may be denied by the Privacy-related Information Technology Act in India, your personal information will be provided to you upon request to PlaRecon Privacy Officer. Please find contact details for our Privacy Officer below.

4. How we manage personal information

PlaRecon undertakes to take all commercially reasonable steps to ensure that all personal information collected by us is accurate, up-to-date, complete and stored securely.  When your personal information is no longer required for the purposes which PlaRecon uses personal information, all commercially reasonable steps, as appropriate, may be undertaken to securely destroy that information.

5. How long do we retain your data?

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.  If you have made a guest post in our site/blog, usually it’s retained indefinitely, once published. However, the administrator can revise/update or delete the post on a later date, with or without intimation to the author by email, as appropriate. This is so since the information provided in the guest post may be incorrect, incomplete or irrelevant with time if not updated regularly. Cookies may be stored in your browser for a varied amount of time, ranging from one browser session to weeks, based on the purpose it serves.

6. Your Data Rights

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can see, edit, or delete your personal information at any time (except your ‘username’, or your ‘social profile name’ when using Social Logins) and contact the Privacy Officer (details below) for any help. You can also request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any additional data you have provided to us through any forms on the site. You can also request that we erase all the personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.  PlaRecon appreciates you informing us if you have any reason to believe that the personal information we hold about you is incorrect, incomplete or not updated and we will correct it for you. You can always opt out of the mailing list by unsubscribing from it by following the link provided on the bottom of each newsletter you receive through email.

7. Third-party links and services

Our website or emails may occasionally, at our discretion, contain hyperlinks to other websites, advertisement links, and embedded content from other websites that are not operated by us. If you click on a third-party link, you will be directed to that third-party’s site. We strongly advise you to review the Privacy Policy of every website you visit. These third-party products, services or embedded contents (like Youtube videos, Facebook Page widget, Social media ‘like’ and ‘share’ buttons) may collect analytical data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction. These third-party services have separate and independent privacy policies which we strongly advise you to review.  For more details, visit the official pages of Google privacy for Youtube, Facebook privacy, and that of other third-party service providers you may use on the website. We have no control over and assume no responsibility or liability for the content, privacy policies or activities of these third-party linked sites or services. Nonetheless, we seek to protect the integrity of our site and welcome any feedback about these third-party sites and services.

8. Children’s Privacy and Age Restriction

Our service does not address anyone under the age of 18 (for more details: see our Disclaimer). We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from anyone under the age of 18. If you are a parent or guardian and you are aware that your child (less than 18 years of age) has provided us with personal data, please contact us. If we become aware that we have collected personal data from anyone under the age of 18, we take steps to remove that information from our servers.

9. Changes in Privacy Policy

We reserve the right to change or modify our Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes to the Privacy Policy are effective immediately upon posting the revised Privacy Policy on this page. The ‘Last updated’ date will be displayed on the top of the page. You waive any right you may have to receive specific notice of such changes or modifications. Though efforts will be made to notify major changes in our Privacy Policy through temporary prominent notice on the website, your continued use of the website will confirm your acceptance of such changes or modifications; therefore, you are advised to review the Privacy Policy periodically for any changes.

10. Policy Scope: Online privacy policy only

This Privacy Policy applies only to our online activities and is valid for visitors to our website with regards to the information that they shared and/or collect in PlaRecon. This policy is not applicable to any information collected offline or via channels other than this website.
